Senate State Government Committee Hearing - June 10

"...to hear testimony on the rationale behind the Governor's position on Senate Bill 1122, prohibiting furloughs of state employees."

Alaine Williams, Esq. testifies on behalf of AFSCME Council 13.  Williams directly challenged the Commonwealth's statement that the furloughs are required by law stating, "It is not illegal to keep employees working.  The Governor is making policy.  It is completely within his power to say that all employees will work and will be paid."

Senator Jeffrey E. Piccola, Chairman of the Committee and Prime Sponsor of Senate Bill 1122, (center back row)

listens to AFSCME's testimony.
