Negotiations Update
As uncertainty surrounds Pennsylvania’s budget situation, AFSCME Council 13 is aware that many members are curious about the status of state contract negotiations.
“Budget or not, we will do everything we can to come up with an agreement before the June 30th deadline,” Council 13 Executive Director David Fillman said.
“However, with last year’s budget still unresolved, as well as next year’s budget waiting for action, there is too much uncertainty that has to be resolved before serious negotiations can occur.”
Council 13 has been in contact with Administration officials, and both sides agree to get the process going in the very near future, with or without a budget resolution.
One of the best things members can do to help get negotiations started is call, write and meet with legislators to urge them to pass a budget. That is the biggest obstacle currently.
As soon as there are any developments, Council 13 will get the word out to all its Commonwealth-employed members. Continue to check afscme13.org, our Facebook and our Twitter for updates.
