What is PAL?
- PAL is AFSCME Council 13's Political And Legislative fund.
Why can't we use union dues money?
- The use of union dues to support political candidates is prohibited by state law.
- Title 25, Section 3253 reads: "It is unlawful for any unincorporated association [AFSCME Council 13], except those formed primarily for political purposes, or a political committee, to make a contribution or expenditure [union dues] in connection with the election of any candidate."
Why contribute to PAL?
- The money you voluntarily contribute to PAL is used to support the (re-)election of political candidates who are sensitive to maintaining vital public services and who will deal with issues that impact AFSCME members, their jobs, and their families.
