AFSCME Council 13 urges work zone caution after PennDOT members struck
Five Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) employees were injured when an out-of-control box truck crashed into an active work zone in Chester County on Thursday, November 10.
Three of the employees are members of AFSCME Local 2155. The extent of their injuries is unknown, but on behalf of every AFSCME sister and brother across the commonwealth, Council 13 extends its best wishes for a full and fast recovery.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all the workers injured in this accident, as well as with their families who are also so deeply affected by this,” AFSCME Council 13 Executive Director David Henderson said.
“This is yet another unwanted wake-up call. Drivers need to slow down in work zones, and we need to keep up the pressure for higher workplace safety standards and public sector OSHA here in Pennsylvania.”
Be sure to keep the injured workers in your thoughts, and be sure to drive carefully so these kinds of accidents don’t happen anymore. Stay safe.
