AFSCME member's $24k medical debt wiped out after union intervention

Dan Reese is a Forest Maintenance Supervisor for DCNR and a proud member of AFSCME Local 2369. He underwent surgery for a torn meniscus and soon after began to receive medical bills adding up to $24,000.
Dan knew this couldn't be right and spent years searching for help from the provider, the insurance company, and even a medical advocate service, but no one could help. Not until Dan attended a statewide labor-management meeting and explained his issue to an AFSCME representative did he reach a resolution.
After further investigation by Council 13, it was found that Dan was receiving these exorbitant bills due to an error in the claims process, so his case was resolved and the bill was paid!
"Without AFSCME's intervention, I never would have arrived at this conclusion. I can't say enough to how grateful I am," Dan said.
You don't always have to accept what is handed to you in these situations, and someone always has your back: THAT'S the Union Difference!
