Just like Council 13 members make Pennsylvania happen, Philadelphia works because members of District Council 33 do.

That's why we stand in full solidarity with our sisters and brothers in Philadelphia who are on strike for a fair contract with the wages, dignity, and respect they deserve.

These essential workers oversee 911 dispatch, trash removal, public water, and more, and they are holding the line for themselves, each other, and generations of municipal workers to come.

"The members of Council 13 – spanning all of Pennsylvania from Philly to Erie, from Pittsburgh to Scranton, and everywhere in between – urge Mayor Cherelle Parker to make a contract offer that would allow District Council 33 members to simply earn enough to live in the city they so dutifully serve," said AFSCME Council 13 Administrator Jim Howell.
