The workers of the Delaware County Health Department are ready to join their fellow county employees in AFSCME Local 3107! They showed their solidarity and requested their union be recognized at the June 4, 2025, county council meeting.

These are the workers who provide vital public health services to the citizens of Delco, including disease tracking and treatment, food inspection, community pool inspection, insect control, harm reduction, public information resources, health supply distribution, and much more. An investment in the workers is an investment in these life-saving services.

Organizing Lead and Fiscal Support for Delaware County Health Dept. Erin Anthony-Russo speaks out surrounded by her supportive union siblings.

Organizing Lead Erin Anthony-Russo said to council members: "Tonight, we are here to ask for you to invest in us. We are residents. We are taxpayers. We are also experts in our jobs, and every day we work to embody the mission of the Delaware County Health Department because that’s what our community deserves... Almost every other Delaware County worker has a union and a contract. Our roles are too important to go unrepresented any longer. It's time. It’s time we have a strong union, voice at work, and a seat at the table in decisions that are made regarding our lives and the lives of those we protect."

Current Local 3107 members came out to show support for their colleagues, including Local Union President Dan Harold, who said, "Where there is unity there is always victory, and last night demonstrated that AFSCME in Delaware County is stronger than ever. As President of Local 3107, I look forward to welcoming all of these employees into our local and fighting for the rights they deserve in the workplace to give them a clean, safe, and fair work environment. Together, we will remain AFSCME STRONG and nobody can stand in our way!"

Delaware County Council members expressed support of the workers' right to organize and a willingness to meet with AFSCME representatives to move toward formal union recognition.

AFSCME members across the county, commonwealth, and country, stand with these workers in their struggle for union representation! Stay strong!
