AFSCME Council 13 members representing their fellow employees in the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently held discussions with management in Harrisburg, addressing issues they are facing on the job and advocating for the best ways to ensure safe gaming systems and facilities throughout the commonwealth.

Trevor Hassenbein is a Bureau of Casino Compliance Supervisor for PGCB and a member of Local 2245. His job involves monitoring casino operations to ensure they comply with state laws, regulations, and internal controls. He and his colleagues respond to patron complaints, investigate concerns about fairness, and hold casino operators accountable across retail casinos, online platforms, sports wagering, and video gaming terminals. They also help individuals who may have gambling problems by providing information or guiding them through self-exclusion.

“It’s important to make sure our job duties remain focused on protecting the public interest, especially as gambling expands. We want to make sure our compliance experience continues to be used and valued as the industry evolves," Trevor said.

"Being part of a union allows us the opportunity to sit down with management like we did today to not only have our voice heard, but to be part of the process of finding solutions."
