John Galuska Elected Allegheny-Fayette CLC President

On behalf of every member of AFSCME Council 13, we congratulate John Galuska, known to many of us as "Johnny G.," for his election by overwhelming majority to President of the Allegheny–Fayette Central Labor Council (CLC).
John has been a proud part of AFSCME for 28 years, starting as a Member and President of Local 2612 (Tech Services - District 11) and going on to serve in many roles, always embodying what it means to be a true labor leader in the Pittsburgh area and beyond.
"This is a lifelong dream of mine. This is something I've worked tirelessly in the labor movement for. I'm just very humbled and thankful that I was voted to be the president of this labor council. I've been very fortunate to work under some powerful leaders who mentored me over the years. Being a part of AFSCME and other unions I belonged to molded me into the leader that I am today," Galuska said.
"My vision is to continue to grow this organization. I believe this is the best labor council in America. I believe we are the strongest labor council in America. I believe we have the strongest and most qualified, skilled workforce in the country. I want to grow this organization and get more young union members engaged with the labor council."
A trade unionist to his core, Johnny G. has also been a member of the Teamsters and the Laborers union.
The Allegheny–Fayette CLC represents the collective interest of its affiliated unions and of the working people of Allegheny and Fayette Counties. It consists of affiliated unions that designate delegates who elect an executive board and conduct Labor Council business at monthly meetings. The CLC helps local unions within its jurisdiction with various organizing campaigns, community services, civil rights issues, and work with charity organizations. The CLC also lobbies with local politicians on issues of concern to workers. The CLC plays an invaluable role in the efforts of the AFL-CIO to improve the standard of living for working people.
Council 13 looks forward to continuing to work with John in his new role, in which he will continue to strengthen the labor movement and be a staunch defender of workers' rights.
Congratulations!
