Lake City Borough sees the Union Difference
Lake City Borough workers make up a small but powerful unit within AFSCME Local 3530.
They were officially recognized as a union in June 2023 and have since negotiated their first contract.

According to AFSCME member Joshua Blystone (pictured right), “Unionizing was the best decision we ever made here at Lake City.”
His coworker Scott Sackett (pictured left) agreed, “The way things were headed here, we would have most likely all quit if we were not successful in securing a union. We never minded the work. We just wanted the freedom to do our jobs and the consistency with our wages and benefits that we didn’t have to worry about every election cycle.”
