National Correctional Officers and Employees Week
During National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, we proudly recognize the correctional professionals of AFSCME Council 13 who work every day to keep our communities safe under some of the toughest conditions in public service and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The officers and support staff who keep jails, prisons, and other public safety facilities throughout Pennsylvania running securely do far more than most people realize. They respond to mental health crises, maintain order in high-risk environments, work long hours and mandatory overtime, and protect the safety of their coworkers, facilities, and communities.
Whether fighting for safe staffing levels, stronger contracts, fair wages, or better working conditions, the Council 13 members who work in this challenging field continue standing together for the respect, safety, and dignity they have earned on the job.
This week, and every week, we thank the correctional officers and employees across Pennsylvania who serve with strength, resilience, professionalism, and humanity — and who make their union stronger every single day.
